Meet The Makers: Lee from Li M. H. Studio

Li M. H. Studio Meet The Makers

Name: 李铭航 or Li Ming Hang or just Lee

Where are you from originally: China (Qinhuangdao city)

Tell us about your favourite place in Phnom Penh: Well, I have to say I love the entire city, but there’s a small south part of Street 21 where my life in Phnom Penh began. It’s near Aeon Mall 1, yet it feels like a different world. While it has its moments of buzz, it’s mostly quiet—an atmosphere where I’ve done countless sketches over the years.

What’s the story or inspiration behind Li M H Studio: I would say that Li M.H. studio was born out of my journey as an artist—starting from sketching in the quiet corners of Phnom Penh to creating art that connects with people worldwide. It’s a space where design and creativity merge with the art of storytelling through visuals.

Name one thing you cannot find in Cambodia and that you miss: I miss the snow and the feeling of getting cozy by the fireplace. However, to be honest, every time I go back to China in the winter, I can barely stand the cold.

If you could have any product from the SATU collection (other than your own), what would it be: It’s a difficult choice, as the SATU collection offers so many outstanding products. However, if I had to choose, I would select another artist’s print, such as one by my friend Joshua Chiang.

What was the last gift you gave someone: It was a small, handcrafted pottery cat that I brought from Nowhere Art. And it was given to my little niece as a gesture of encouragement for her creativity and to foster a sense of connection.

After answering these questions, you walk outside and find $1,000 on your doorstep. What would you spend it on: Funny you should ask! I’d probably spend it all on canvases, paints, and other art materials without a second thought.
