Domlei was launched in June 2020 by Saron (a mum herself) with the idea of empowering women in the rural weaving villages of Takeo Province, where Saron originally comes from. As a mum, Saron gained a greater awareness of how important the role of a mother is in the early years of a child’s life and what a stabilising role women play in the wider community and its long-term future. She established Domlei with the idea of working with a carefully selected team of local Cambodian artisans who get fair pay and can continue to work in their communities and take care of their children. All the fabrics are made from natural and sustainable cotton yarn using traditional weaving methods passed down over generations and each item is custom made to order.
